New terms revealed despite Postecoglou denials, ’58 billion plus alternatives’ transfer possible…hapless MF to leave after all
Tottenham manager Enze Postecoglou is adamant about keeping Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference against Fulham on Tuesday, the Spurs boss said, “I never thought that he would leave in the transfer window. In the conversations I had with him, he said he wanted to stay and contribute to the team. “Obviously, if he was playing regularly, he would have wanted more time, but our performances were very good. He had to wait for his time, but he was a very important part of the team,” he said.
Tottenham will host Fulham in the ninth round of the 2023-2024 English Premier League (EPL) season at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England, at 4:00 a.m. on April 24. Fulham made a bid for Hojbjerg on the final day of the transfer window, but it fell through.도메인
Hojbjerg is expected to start against Fulham. Yves Bissouma is suspended after being sent off for two cautions against Luton Town just before the international break.
However, Hojbjerg’s future is still in doubt. The Express in the U.K. raised the speculation of a move again on Feb. 22.
“Tottenham are willing to sell the player this winter if two key conditions are met,” the Express reported. The two conditions are a £35 million transfer fee and the club must first secure a replacement.
Hojbjerg was a regular in the center of the park until last season. However, he was pushed aside by Bissouma and Pape after Postecoglou took over.
He has made seven appearances in the EPL this season, all as a substitute, with 122 minutes of playing time.
However, Bissouma and Sarr, the Malian and Senegalese internationals respectively, will be away for the African Cup of Nations in January at the height of the season. They will miss a minimum of two games and a maximum of four.
Hojbjerg is currently being courted by Spain’s Atletico Madrid and Italy’s Juventus. Juventus are considering him as a replacement for Paul Pogba, who tested positive for testosterone.
He arrived at Tottenham in the summer of 2020 for a transfer fee of £15 million. He is contracted to Spurs until June 2025.
“I’m not in Tottenham’s best 11 at the moment,” he told Danish newspaper Bold during the A-match. But I had a good conversation with the team and we have a lot of respect for each other. If the manager wants to play me, I will try to give my best.”
