The Belles kicked off the group stage on a high note with a convincing win.
The South Korean women’s national soccer team, led by head coach Colleen Bell, cruised to a 10-1 victory over Thailand in the first match of Group B of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games Second Qualifying Round at the Xiamen Yigret Stadium in Xiamen, China on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. (ET).
South Korea was drawn in a group with Thailand, North Korea and China. The Asian Secondary Qualifiers consist of 12 nations divided into three groups of four teams, with one team from each group with the best record qualifying for the final round. Only two of the four teams qualify for the Olympic Games.
On the day, South Korea deployed a 3-5-2 formation. Casey Eugene Fair and Jeon Eun-ha were up front, with Choo Hyo-joo, Cheon Garam, Kang Chae-rim, Ji So-yeon, and Jang Seul-ki in the midfield. In the back, Shim Seo-yeon, Kim Hye-ri, and Lee Eun-young paired up, while Kim Jung-mi donned the goalkeeping gloves. Thailand countered with Natcha Kaewanta and Akiraya Ingsakul.온라인카지노
South Korea took control of the game from the start. However, it took them a while to get on the board. In the 33rd minute, Ji So-yeon exchanged one-two passes with Jang Seul-ki before slipping a pass to Casey Eugene. Eugene beat a defender to the ball and rattled the net.
Once the floodgates opened, the goals came in quick succession. In the 36th minute, Chun Garam received a pass from Jeon Eun-ha and scored another goal with a right-footed curling shot. In the 39th minute, Kang Chae-rim added another goal to extend the lead.
The second half was a goal-fest. Four minutes into the second half, Chun Garam slotted home a cutback from Kang Chae-rim for the fourth goal. The goals kept coming for Korea. In the ninth minute of the second half, Kang Chae-rim found the back of the net off a pass from Jang Seul-ki, and in the 11th minute, Casey Eugene pressured the goalkeeper to steal the ball and slide it into an empty net.
Casey Eugene completed her hat trick in the 21st minute of the second half. She converted a pass from Lee Geum-min into a direct shot for her third goal of the season. Two minutes later, she scored again. Jang Seul-ki poked the ball straight into the net from Casey Eugene. Lee Geum-min finished it off.
Korea scored back-to-back goals in the 27th and 30th minutes of the second half from Moon Mi-ra and Chun Garam to make it 10-0. Thailand scored one goal in the last minute of the second half, but it was a comfortable victory.
